Massachusetts State Inspection Station

Onsite Automotive Services is an official Massachusetts licensed inspection station. We perform both safety and emissions inspections as required by state law. Our inspections are thorough, fair, and typically completed while you wait.

Massachusetts requires annual vehicle inspections within 7 days of registration renewal or when bringing a vehicle into the state. Don't wait until the last minute—stop by for a quick, hassle-free inspection.

Inspection Types:

Safety Inspection

All vehicles registered in Massachusetts must pass an annual safety inspection. We check brakes, tires, lights, steering, suspension, windshield, wipers, horn, mirrors, and other safety equipment.

Emissions Inspection (OBD-II)

Vehicles model year 1996 and newer require an emissions inspection. We connect to your vehicle's computer to check for emissions-related faults. The check engine light must be off to pass.

Diesel Emissions

Diesel vehicles have specific emissions testing requirements. We're equipped to test diesel vehicles as well.

What We Check:

• Brakes — pedal, pads, rotors, lines
• Tires — tread depth, condition, matching
• Lights — headlights, taillights, signals, brake lights
• Steering & Suspension — play, leaks, wear
• Windshield & Wipers — cracks, wipers, washers
• Horn, Mirrors, Seatbelts
• Emissions System — computer check, MIL status
• Exhaust System — leaks, condition

Failed Inspection?

If your vehicle doesn't pass inspection, we'll explain exactly what failed and why. We can often make repairs the same day so you can get your sticker. We never recommend unnecessary repairs just to pass inspection—only what's actually required.

Inspection Tips:

• Make sure all lights are working before you come in
• Check that your windshield wipers work properly
• If your check engine light is on, have it diagnosed first
• Bring your registration and insurance card
• Don't wait until your current sticker expires
