The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is a federal law that protects consumers. It explicitly states that a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply because you had maintenance or repairs performed by an independent shop.
In other words: you do NOT have to go to the dealer to keep your warranty valid. As long as the work is performed properly using appropriate parts, your warranty is protected.
